In December 1953, a young man visiting Abercrombie & Fitch in New York City saw his first Randall Made knife and was immediately smitten. There was a nine month wait for the knife he wanted and the cost was an impediment for a young man of 24. He decided to make his own. Bob Loveless ground his first blade from a 1937 Packard Automobile spring and the rest is knife making legend. R.W. "Bob" Loveless died yesterday, September 2, 2010 at the age of 81.

He left us with classic designs. His drop point will always be known as the Loveless Pattern.

He was highly revered in Japan as an Artisan.

Regrets

His Big Bear fighter is also a much loved and reprised model. He made permanent impressions on the knife world.

Here's the article that I linked to in the "Good" Lounge about Mr. Loveless. It speaks of a big Randall influence in his knife making.
