Check out this auction# 110581217792. I'm too stupid to be able to shorten the URL. If someone wants to tell me how, I'm all ears. In case the auction gets zapped early, the opening bid is $.99, and the shipping is $499.00. We'll see if eBay addresses it.

Oh, I thought this was hilarious!
The guy states that a listing at $0.99 is free at ebay ... so I guess he doesn't have to pay a fee to list this item!!!!
He makes the money on the shipping!
I wonder, also, if ebay will shut him down.
Very creative!!!!

He is trying to beat the final value fee. Ebay charges a list fee and a final value fee. Listing is cheap - final value is a percentage of what the item sold for. That is where Ebay makes their money. He won't get away with it.

Is this the same guy that listed the Yeti handled knives?

It seems like a different seller, but like the Yeti fellow, he has no class.

Looks like he has gotten away with it before. From his feedback:

I set the Ebay police on it earlier still no action!
Very creative thought process - I give him/her credit for it. laugh

There was a Randall collector out of California that tried this method about 3-4 years ago. eBay let his listings run, but sent him some nasty-grams telling him to stop.
I imagine eBay will find a way to stop this also.

You 'give him/her credit for it' and then rat him/her out? Why?

Screw ebay. Use gunbroker.

Before posting here, I also notified eBay about the inflated shipping. After I thought about it, I wasn't sure they gave a damn about the shipping. So, I looked at another of his listings and sent a second notice, but this one was about evading eBay fees. I can't believe they ignored this one also. Normally, anything that takes a bite out of eBay gets stepped on pretty quick. Sadly, both auctions are still active.
