I thought I would share this link that my son sent me. He said it reminds him of his Granddad (on his mother's side) who has tons of stories about getting pulled away from action during WWII for "band duty" because he is an accomplished cornet player. To hear him tell it, he is pretty much the original "boogie woogie bugle boy".

In any case, none of his stories compare to this one from another of the last remaining members of "America's Greatest Generation" ...
