I believe a model 22 handle would be great on this build, plus we'd get a crows peak butt cap which wouldn't use an option. We could have a thong hole with it which I believe is one option. This would leave us with 3 chargeable options to use. Which we could use on custom spacer configuration and a nickle silver single hilt.

Ok, Crew:
Let's get back on track. Ringed Gidgee is "already in" and has been voted on months ago. That is one option used up. No changing that.
Dan: A "crow's beak butt cap" definately uses up an option. A Model #22 shaped handle uses up an option. That would be "3"..."BUT"...(There's that word again)...if you order custom wood (CW / Ringed Gidgee) and "ACB" or "CBB" (Duralumin or brass crow's beak butt cap) you will get the #22 shaping to your handle at no chargeable option. You kinda said the same thing...but backwards. Ordering and crow's beak will get you the handle shape...Not the other way around. It is possible to have a #22 styled handle with "no butt cap"...not the other way around.
Ok: I'm sure that's now a clear as mud, but here's where we are crew:

A) Model #5-8", Camp-n-Trail
B) Thumb notches (standard / no option charged)
C) 01 Swedish tool steel blade (standard / no option charged)
D) CW (Ringed Gidgee) (1st option used up)

Now: Let's talk about "metal"..Brass or Nickel silver hilt?, etc.
Best, Capt. Chris

BRASS HILT!
Why ...
So we have 4 more options ...
Maybe ...
BRASS/BLACK SPACERS.
FINGER GROOVES (LEFT OR RIGHT). - Really highlight the wood grain! wink
BRASS BUTT CAP (a little weight to offset the big blade?)
WRIST THONG.

Tony and Capt.

I am in agreement with Tony, brass hilt, (standard ie: not an option).

Tony, if the knife is ordered with the Model 22 handle, it comes with a brass butt cap(or duralumin), isn't that correct? So there is one more choice (butt cap) we don't have to make.

Rod,
The opposite. "IF" we decide to build this with brass hardware, you would order the CW and a CBB. That will automatically shape the handle.
Best, Capt. Chris

Capt. Chris--

I vote for a Brass hilt. There is a reason--BUT we haven't gotten there yet. I just hope my "reason" isn't frozen out by the other votes on the metal for the hilt or another option that comes up.

By the way--thanks for reminding us (me!) that the thumb notches come standard on the Model 5--I sometimes drop that out of my memory bank.

Question/Suggestion--if some of us have a final configuration in mind, would it be appropriate to have us post it here, and give everyone a chance to envision the possible finished knife designs, and then letting the crew vote on whether to continue by (a) voting on one of the posted combinations, or (b) continuing on with the option-by-option build? Just a thought, but wonder what you think?
