We took another hike this past weekend and tried out my new camera. I bought a Canon G10, I really like a small camera for hiking, and it is one of the few that still has an optical viewfinder. I do a fair amount of hiking in the southwest, and I can't see the screen in the bright sun.
There are still plenty of blueberries out. Weather has been pretty pleasant so far this summer.

Peter, Great shots and a great couple of hikes. What are the names or your two beautiful puppies?

My dogs are named Randall and Riggs. I rescued Randall 5 years ago and he had been a stray so I named him. I rescued Riggs last year and he came with that name as he was an owner turn in.
They are both great dogs and play together like brothers. I thinks they are both around 7 years old

Great pictures, Peter. How are the ticks this year back east?

Hi Mike
They were terrible in the spring, but haven't seen any lately. The dogs have the Lyme disease vaccine and are on Frontline Plus, so they would have ticks on them but just on the fur, so I could pull them off and kill them (good color for dogs to see ticks) But lately I haven't been finding any at all. In years past they haven't been much of a problem but they have been getting worse
I am using more bug repellent on myself and looking for them when I get home.

Peter-

I had an occasion to work a pipeline project in eastern Ohio and the wifer and I would take weekend trips to Pa. We really enjoyed the mountains and forests. We actually saw some elk one day and made me feel a little like home in Idaho. Every one we met in Pa. made us feel at home. We were in that area for 4 years and really came to love that area of the USA. As an old forester by college training, the NE forests were very interesting to me. I grew up in Virginia but hadn't been back east since I had graduated from forestry school, so it was more meaningful to me at an older age. Again, I have enjoyed your pictures and many thanks for posting.

Hi Mike
I grew up in NJ and have been in PA for 23 year now. I really like it, but do like to travel out west for hiking adventures. You can now hunt elk in PA, see
http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/view.asp?a=471&q=161500
And the people who get the licenses generally do well.
I will continue to hike and post pictures. It is great to see the change of the seasons, and things look really different depending on the time of the year.

Peter, when my wife and I were dating long ago her family had two white German shepherds, King and Prince.
Every time I visited Price would jump into the back seat of my Mustang convertible wanting a ride.
One day Prince got out of the fence and went exploring. I did not know it but when I saw him a mile or so from his home, snooping around the post office of our little town I new he was AWOL.
I whistled once and he bolted to the Mustang at a dead run at a dead run and jumped in.
For his wise decision I drove him around for half an hour as a reward.

Hi Tom
Great story, my most recent dog loves to go for rides, the earlier one did not until he got his new dog

I was back on the trail again this weekend. We went up a gap past an old reservoir. We also found plenty of blackberries, some almost frogs, kicked out several Whitetails and saw a variety of tracks.
