With that said, my second favorite wood is California buckeye burl with a lot of gray tone. I've been to a local knife show this weekend and a company from Solingen showed a lot of (very nice) handmade kitchen- and table knives, handled with olive wood. They all had a slightly yellow-greenish touch. Simply something I don't prefer. Does anybody have any experiences with shrinkage or cracking? I'm sure olive wood, like others, can be found in different shades/hues. Hey Mike ... a photo would be great ... sycamore is different, and that's why I mentioned Olive Wood. I am a lousy photographer, but I will try and add some pics. Before that I will say I have fallen in love, although my dear wife does not know, with Camphor Burl. Have not been able to find a piece big enough for a RMK handle, but I am working on it. In addition I am working on obtaining a couple pieces of Thuya Burl at the Blade Show.
