If this was a hunting knife O1 would be fine, because it is like a hunting rifle, you use it, go back to camp and clean it. A camp knife gets used all the time, so I think stainless is the best option.

I'm thinking 01 as it will leave us with more "other" options and with an 8" blade, we might want to think about them, so 01 steel for me.

I also would like the tool steel option. I just recieved my first SS Randall and look to start useing it very soon. I will stick with what I know for now.

Wow !!! I've voted for 01 a lot because I like it and think a knife with great patina has real character, but SS always seems to win. This time it looks like 01 may actually have a chance.
Please add one more vote for 01 Cap'n.

Ed, You may very well be correct. The voting shows 01 ahead of stainless by a 2-1 ratio! How about the rest of you? Anymore folks want to express a preference? I know....How about a "ROLL CALL"? Vote for one and we'll move on afterward:
A) 01 Swedish tool steel blade B) Stainless steel.
