I took a nice long hike today. On the drive to the trailhead, four whitetail bucks ran in front of my car and the first one was a monster for here, unfortunately they came from and were going to private land and it isn't hunting season yet either.
I kicked out three grouse on the hike too. There were a lot of different mushrooms out as we have had some rain lately.
I had my lunch at this old abandoned log cabin near a stream.
I got a couple of photos of the model 28 in the woods too.

Peter

I'll bet you miss having your "boys" with you on your hikes. Great photos as usual. I find myself packing my #28 almost every day with my hi-rise sheath. Rides very comfortable.

Thanks guys for the nice comments

I had the dogs out in the woods on Thursday for a little while since I was reblazing a trail that had some reroutes, it was not too far and I was moving slowly.
I may take them out to finish the blazing tomorrow
It is tough watching them get older and not have the same stamina that they use to have.

I can relate to your buddies, as an old duffer that once ripped up the trails and cross country orientiered as a forester. Bad joints and a "been there-done that" attitude keeps me playing golf(ON THE CART) since I will never make that grade and is always a challange. I am still jealous of being in the woods, with my dogs, and sharing my baloney sandwich, no merlot, just canteen water or the creek.

I went out this morning as it was supposed to be sunny after all the rain we have received, and only saw the sun for a few seconds, but it didn't rain. I saw some grouse and the little guy in the first photo. A lot of mushrooms since it has been so wet. Leaves are starting to change too.
