This Bullet Knife best known to be the Fisherman’s Knife is also known as a “Tickler”. Its an American clasp knife, introduced in America in the 1890s, which looks very similar to the Southern European clasp knife or “navaja”.

Many knife companies made this pattern, but the Bose patterned theirs off of the 1920s Remington Bullet.

Remington made this pattern in bone, the R-1613….and one in a candy striped celluloid, the R-1615…both had a hook disgorger.

As models go the shield make all the difference. The R-1613 had a Bullet Shield, but there is also the same knife with a round shied that represented a base of a center fire cartridge. And then there are those models that had no shield at all. Even a two bladed model was made with a saber grind master blade and a pen blade. (BackGround thanks to Levine’s Guide)

Here is a scan of a round shield "UMC" fisherman’s knife…(Union Metallic Cartridge)

The one with the Bullet shield is a tad rare. I would like to see one one day… if you do have one I hope you know its value.

Below is the T.Bose version of the R-1613 Bullet in Antique Remington Bone.

I have a postcard of the same bullet knife picture you posted which Mr. Bose sent me years ago. I MUST have one of those knives in order to fillet the peacock bass that I fish in order to feed my family. Oh my....

That printer did an OK job...this new Canon printer I have now.. blows it away

I did a few poster size prints for a friend about the same time you received that postcard...I laminated the posters and he used them as place mats to eat off of.

No, I'm dumb as a brick, that's a fact. I had a Mac, gave it away after the second day. It's like driving in England.

I wish that you and Kerry could team up on my computer and me for thirty minutes! New Dell and Windows Vista and I can't do anything including print, see pictures in emails or read attachments but, I do have time to eat supper while the pictures on this forum are opening. I am beyond help since all "help" menus may as well be written in Greek!

It’s a funny thing about windows….I remember it well…I would start my computer…and casually go get a cup of coffee…by the time I got back I hoped it was up and running…ready to get some work done. Between all the Windows updates, Virus updates and virus scans…and the mere fact that it took so long (forever) to boot up, I am surprised I lasted as long as I did. By the time it was done…my coffee was either cold or gone…

I changed over to a Mac around four years ago and to tell you the truth I had to re-program myself to think “simpler”. Windows has a great way of making things more complicated than they need to be. Since I have “seen the light” so to speak, I can truly say I am much more proficient. I start the machine, it boots up in seconds and I am ready to do what I gots to do.

But ....I have heard that Dell has a great support team, as does Sony, if you need help. Just call them.

My point is…lets get some work done and stop messing with problems…Mac is your answer.
