Tom,
The "Cracker" knife was not my 25th. It was...well...for Florida Crackers and had a Lignum Vitae handle made from wood, reclaimed from an old Key West home.
Best, Capt. Chris
PS: 25th knives had a 25th medallion in the butt. I never did a 30th but hope to be hangin' in there for my 50th!!

Here's a 25th Stanaback Special with the medallion.
Capt. Is it to early to order a SS 50th?

Dennis

Great looking knife.
Does the handle grain have a twist to it?

Thanks for the replies, we will try to find out more information on the history of these knives. Sounds like Tommy was good friends with Ward Gay (Yukon Skinner) and they may still have the original Yukon Skinner knife.... Will learn more and share what we can.

Had anyone seen the photo of Tommy and Bo together before?

Thanks,
bryan

Re: Tommy Thompson Military Service Knife?

Here is the response:

He flew a P-51 Mustang during the war and an F-86 Sabre jet in the Alaska Air National Guard. Later on he flew for Air America in Vietnam it was the C-7 Caribou and Pilatis Porter . He didn’t meet Bo until after the war in the 50s . To my knowledge he only carried the standard issue .45 ACP . I do have a British commando dagger that he brought back from when he was stationed in England. He always raved about the Randall knives and had several including the Yukon Skinner Ward Gay gave him.

Hope this helps answer your questions.

The attached photo below is his guide plane and includes the name "Tommy Thompson" on the fuselage.

Model 11 pre-production photos. The smaller knife was made by Tommy Thompson's son - Brian Thompson.

Still waiting for "Model 11 pre-production" photos

The reference to "pre-production" was relating to the knives shown in the original post. They were described as pre-production by the family member. The photos were made prior to the Model 11 becoming a part of their line of knives. I am not aware of any additional photos of the original Model 11 knife to share at this time.
