Fellow RKCC charter member, Wally Mabry, emailed me with a very likely candidate for a RKCA build.
Here's a little intro:
Capt,

Sorry to have taken so long getting back to you. The members of the 174th MAC that deployed with the 178th Engineers have already left, and are now at the mobilization station at Ft. Bliss, Tx. The candidate I had in mind is SSG Harold Sinclair, 174th MAC. He has done one year in Iraq and two years in Afghanistan. He is a couple of years from retirement and plans to do one more year in Afghanistan in 2013. That gives you plenty of time, to do a forum build, if you like. I hope, this is some help.

Wally

Wally has emailed me back with the AOK to use the good Sgts' name: Here's a portion of his email:
Best, Capt. Chris

Cap'n,
I just got off the phone with SSG Harold Sinclair, and he is good with using his name, rank, unit, etc on the forum. He seemed flabbergasted that he'd been nominated, but he is certainly a deserving candidate. He will retire in 3 years, but will (I say with a very high degree of certainty) deploy one more time.

I think now is the time to go ahead and get the ball rolling on the forum, have everyone give thier input. To help with the choices, I can tell you this...
SSG Sinclair began his career as a US Marine, in the 80s.

He has served in Iraq as a convoy escort security team commander,

As an imbedded trainer for the Afghan army.

As a route clearance combat engineer in Afghanistan,

and is awaiting his next deployment.

Wally goes on to state the SSG Sinclair is a "soldier's soldier". A true field troop and leader of men! (Wally's words...not mine) Wally says that SSG Sinclair is "undeniably deserving of this honor and recognition" and asks that we "let the process" of building this man a Randall knife begin!
What say you?
Best, Capt. Chris

I think whatever knife we come up with will work. Wally can you ask the SSG if he would want a wall hangar or a knife he can use after he retires.

Yeah, I'm thinking a really nice CC or Sgt's Model loaded up. I think the 5 1/2 " blades make for a better user with all the other stuff on their Alice system.
