Capt.,

My guess is BPH isn't as easy to use upside down (as he said he likes to do sometimes) as the other two shapes?

It's easier than the standard #14 style finger grips Jimmy was speaking of. That's what I was addressing. A border patrol handle sort of fits everyone. A good all around choice...and so is commando. It's all just food for thought.
Best, Capt. Chris

Capt, I would say nothing, but I would prefer the humpback and concave style over the BPH. I also do not like the crow's beak butt cap that is with most BPH handles that I've seen. I am sure there are a lot people that would disagree with me. I would suggest that you find what you like and stick with it. That is what really matters.

My vote is for a 6" blade. I spent this weekend with SSG (soon to be SFC) Sinclair, and the other 60 plus members of his unit. I think a 6 inch blade is better suited for him. Tomorrow I'll try to post some pics from this weekend.

Jimmy,
"Crow's Beak" butt caps are not available on a border patrol handle shape but a #22 style. Although they are similar, the crow's beak feels quite different. I agree about the humpback, especially on the new #4-6-"F".

Wally,
Glad to hear the news. Get us some pics.
Thanks, Capt. Chris

Members,
Because this could be important to a good many of us, especially Sgt. Sinclair, I thought it might be a good idea to explore the handle shapes and consider them as we go about this build.
Any takers? I know Mr. Bedgood and, like me, he's got a big mitt...even larger than mine. His reference to a "crow's beak butt cap" being somewhat uncomfortable is justified. I have no idea how large Sgt. Sinclair's hand is...but check out the following photos.
Best, Capt. Chris

#4-6-"F". This is a true "humpback" shaped handle.

Next is a couple of #14's with a "Border patrol" handle..."WITH" and "WITHOUT" butt caps. One is a "CDT" and the other a full exposed tang model.
