1-8, tool steel, leather, fingergrips, thonghole, sawteeth, name and rank etched. That even leaves a couple of options, doesn't it?

He has handled the 1-7 I had in Iraq, and it may he the only Randall he's touched. It seemed to mystify everyone, how much attention my knife received, in theatre. He knows an RMK is a special thing, but probably wouldn't know a model 2 from a model 18.

Wally,
Do you think the sawteeth option would better serve his needs...or not? Also: A lot of attention is being paid to the good 'ol #1...but what blade length works best for his purposes?
Thanks, Capt. Chris

I used a 7 inch blade, and was very comfortable with it. Sawteeth would have come in handy, but the thonghole is what I would have wanted most. I think tool steel is better for a real user.

Maybe go with a 6" blade on a Model #1 to be less bulky on/in his gear. Then go with the Sawteeth, Finger Grips, Thong Hole, Name Etching, and Nickel Silver Hilt(?).

But I still think a Model 15 CDT could be done the same way.

#1-8" carbon steel, teeth with a brass #14 style double hilt. Leather commando handle with thong hole and all black spacers.
