Jimmy,

The "Target Indicator" Black of the Micarta may stand out though. You may want to use the Leather one.

Did you "Pickle" that #1?

Thanks guys.

Rob, My #1 has spent extended time in the field. Mostly in South America where you can't keep anything dry. I have never done anything to it beside clean it off and oil it up. I had 550 cord wrapped around the handle for 20 plus years without removing it. It is just as good as it ever was just not as pretty.

You stated you "bought it outside Fort Bragg in July 1985".

I wonder if you bought it from me.

I was a partner in the Cumberland Knife & Gun Works, near the corner of Santa Fe Dr & Bragg Blvd (5703 Bragg Blvd).

We had two or three dozen Randalls on hand from 1978 till 1999.

We specialized in the military models.

Just curious.

Nice looking model 4's. That no. 1 still looks like it will do anything it ever would.

Thanks Tony and Steven.

Buck,
My memory is not as good as the knife. I can remember that there was a #2 and #1 both with leather handles. They were in a glass display case to the right as soon as you entered the door. Do you still have a shop at Bragg? I will try and look you up next time I'am in town.

That sounds like our layout. To the right as you enter the shop, there were two antique museum cases with heavy bronze frames and full glass tops.

The Randall inventory sat in those cases. Eight foot tall gun racks stood to your left of the museum cases, and custom-made longrifles
hung on the right wall.

Regrets, the store closed in 1999 after 27 years in business. I took my share of the inventory, including the Randalls, and moved down the street about three blocks and opened the Fayetteville Arms Room, which I operated from 1999 till closing in 2010.

Small businesses have a hard time surviving a major deployment of troops from Fort Bragg. In 2010, almost 20,000 troops were overseas.

Sounds like the place Buck. Sorry to hear about the business. Do you still sell Randall's?

Love those old #8's. And that brown micarta goes great with the leather on the #25.
