Owls are very neat birds. We had a Screech owl right outside our bedroom window in the willow tree. Scared the crap out of me when it screamed. I first thought it was a cougar, but got my flashlight and saw this little guy with a big voice.

We have owls too. They're pretty quiet.

We have some that hang out in a treeline close to the house. If we aren't hearing coyotes howling (off in the distance the other direction), we hear the owls hooting.

Your place sounds like an ideal setup for kids to grow up!

Coach, That is way cool. In the 30+ years that I have been here, I only saw that once. When I moved here the pervious owner had left about 12 or 15 hives, I had no idea of raising bees so I burned them in my wood stove for kindling, also had no idea how to collect them. I wish I had them now, as honey is over 20.00 a quart, plus they pollenate things in the garden. Honey bees have been dying off for years, along with the bats. Time for me to put out the Irish Spring again, and get some stuff going in the garden, may be pushing it somewhat, but will take the chance. The soap keeps the deer out but not these critters.
