Did Randall make a SOG type knife during the Vietnam era?

Thanks

No, but they did make the Randall RECON based on the 7" CISO knife of the early 60's designed by Ben Baker. 100 were made with the last delivered approximately 8-10 years ago.

Randall didn’t but Harold Lafler did. He was a long time employee of the Shop. When he left he made his own knives. This is one of them. It is so cool. When I saw it at the Blade Show many years ago I had to have it. The guy was wearing it when I saw it. Asked if it was for sale and he said no. I kept going back and finally talked him out of it. I know it isn’t a Randall SOG but it has Randall DNA.

Ronnie, Great looking SOG. Looks a lot like the Al Mar SOG from the 1980s. You may want to store the knife out of the sheath. You have a lot of verdigris collecting.

Eric I don’t store the knife in the sheath. Haven’t done that since I was a kid. What you are seeing is “patina” hahahahahahah!
Lafler also made an awesome copy of the M3 Trench Knife Of WWII fame. The guy I got this SOG from also had a couple of those but I passed on em. I have always regretted that.
Thanks for the comment.

Ronnie,

Eric's trying to tell you something, and you're not listening.

That "patina" will eat into that brass and pit it if you let stay on there.

Just saying !!!

Ronnie, It was stored in the sheath at one time. Verdigris is corrosion not patina. It is also poisonous. It will easily wipe off with a dry cotton ball without removing any patina on the hilt. Your knife your decision....beautiful example for sure.

Eric I carry the knife a lot....gun shows, Militaria shows, and around the house on weekends etc., and yes it does spend a weekend in the sheath. But this knife has been stored in a knife box for many years now when I don’t carry it. The verdigris has probably been on the knife for a while and yes I need to clean it off. It just needs a good cleaning.
Mike....my patina comment was a joke. I know what verdigris is.
Bottom line, this knife has not been stored in the sheath.
