Doesn't look "orange" enough for Osage to me, but anything is possible.

My 1st instinct would be ironwood Miles. Ironwood is "all over the place" so far a coloring, grain, etc., etc. I would not think this any type of lignum vitae due the "peel" formation of this piece. Nice knife..."but"...unlike a whole lotta' folks, #19's are not a high priority on my want list. Good luck with it. Best, Capt. Chris

The ironwood expert is Peter Kaufman. Probably has and looked at more ironwood than anyone I know. But I agree with ironwood also. However as Cap stated ironwood is all over the place. Look at ironwood burl which I've owned and it's a different animal. It can be subtle and straight or lots of burl and figure. Presentation Grade as is referred to.
