Billy,

Both super, I have and like the .308. The subordinate 7mm-08, and .243 all built on the parent case are fine cartridges as well.

I really like the 7mm-08 and gave a Remington 700 to my son for his 14th birthday. After his Marine Corps he still loves it and hunts with it. I have a TC Encore in it and have taken an elk and a deer with it. A nice compromise of power and low kick.

Pap,

Years ago I bought a Weatherby Center Fire Pistol built on a MK5 light action, SS fluted barrel, laminated stock. Had my choice of .22-.250, .243, or .308. Bad choice on my part, the .308 was way too jumpy. I think the others would have been better choices. Anyway, I can see why it was discontinued.
I did better with my single shot TC pistol in .45-70 and shot my share of deer with it.
To its credit, any deer hit with a. 45-70 was toast. Shot a 6 pt at 15 yds and never saw anything like that before; no movement.

I agree with you on the 45/70 regardless of delivery platform.

The cartridge is tried and true and probably more popular now then way back then.
No "magnum bangnum" just excellent ballistics at realistic ranges.

No doubt he tried it like draped over a chair or something before shooting himself. Still, a little crazy for my blood.

no doubt they will sell more jackets with this "demo" over a gel one.I went to their web site to look around and if I had a need for one would probably buy one.
