I have a friend whose father has a 105 year old leather shotgun scabbard/case that he wants to be restored.

Anyone have any ideas of who does quality work of this type??

Wayne

Hi Wayne, This may or may not be what you are looking for, but this guy is an expert on period correct restorations. He posts on the Jan C. Still Luger Forums and the guys there rave about him. I have no relation with him and it may not be financially feasible to do this but here what I got, good luck, Mike

Mike,
Thank you for the info. I looked into it and see that he has super good reviews.

I will forward the information to my friend.

He has passed away Wayne, so it’s pretty much irrelevant..
Here’s one thread where he is mentioned. You can search the archives, there are a few more: http://www.knifetalkforums.com/ubbthread...=true#Post22132

O.K...Grady....he WAS an interesting fellow...the worked with leather(for one thing), he was the "go to" guy if you chose to get/have your Randall sheath treated. Many here don't like the treatment process...many do...anyway Grady was a character!!! if he got you on the phone....you just lost at the very least, 1 hour of your life....most time he offered tips on collecting...he "collected" many things...I believe, as he told it to me....a whole bunch of M-1 carbines...probably more, and different MILSURPs....AND he was not shy about telling you about them...an all around nice guy, weather you believe in "conditioning" these sheaths or not...
I used him, and he provided a good service for the price.
that's all I have to say about that...irrelevant...I'm going to have say no to that.

:-)Rocky

Grady McCotter was a charter member of the RKCC and wrote a terrific, in depth, article for our "KNIFE KNEWS". He was "the best"...period and a lot of his knowledge died with him, unfortunately.
Best, Capt.
