OK,it is now official.................22 mag snake shot does not work worth two poops against snakes.

I just came back from a GA snake hunt and on the first day out,I decided to travel light with my 22 Mag Black Widow. First 3 chambers with snake shot then two HP rounds.

A very close encounter with a 3 foot Buzzworm (rattlesnake). I shot it with the snake shot nothing.then a lucky head shot with the HP round did the trick.

Then I started to pack the 410 3 inch Bond but,of course, then no more encounters.

I think there are a lot more readers than writers.

You got to be within 2 ft with .22 snakeshot.
.357 snakeshot will go about 8-10 ft.

Bond Arms Texan loaded with 3” #4 will be 100% at 20+ feet!

Welcome back, Wayne.

Coach,
Great to be back......in one piece.

I was about 3 feet from the snake with the 22 mag snake shot. I really did not want to get closer being it already had struck out (but did not bite) one dog.

Then I got between the dog and the snake (like I said,no comments),and started the show.

I have a S&W 22 mag Airlite PD and have some bird shot but haven't shot anything yet. I also have a couple of cases if 22 bird shot, rat shot, if I ever use it. Still have my Bond .410 as well.

No love lost on rattlesnake at all. Glad you took care of business with the hollow points!

The HP round hit was lucky considering all the popcorn that was hitting the fan at the time.

While quail hunting my eyes are on the ground mostly looking out for the buzzworms. Being bitten once........was enough.

Trouble is that Mother Nature has them camoflaged so well you pretty much are on them before you see them.

You need a set of Filson gaters, then no more worries about buzz tails.
