I got this #2 5” from Gary Clinton. Gary guessed it was from the 80’s during the experimental years. Ivory Micarta insert has yellowed. Recessed pommel nut. Sheath is not original to knife.

Eric -

I gotta check and refresh my memory, and I may be wrong on this one, but the switch to the small tang nuts IIRC was early to mid 90's.

On the that note, what do you mean "recessed pommel nut"?

Along with the picture of the miniature #2 that Michael Mason posted for me on pg 55, (Thanks Mike) I was fortunate enough to acquire this catalog. The handwritten message from Bo Randall to Bob Gaddis indicates Bo finding it on a summer trip to the Lake Walloon home, and then sending the pamphlet to Bob Gaddis for study/information on the book he was writing at the time, now regarded as "the Bible" among collectors. It is a 1959 catalog in nearly mint condition. Bo also noted "B4 Zip came along" on the lower right corner. I think it's pretty neat.

57 years between the two knives, for a comparison of then, and now. 1963- 2020

Here's a corrected image, Wally.

Dragged it off the page, and emailed it to myself. Chose large file size, which reduced it from 1.5MB to about 450kb. So, now it will show up in your/my post.

Thank you Buck. Lori knows how to do all this on our desktop, but I'm still firing at random.

Eric, Wally, Buck, thanks for posting all of these #2-5” AND the extra historical accoutrements, Wally. They’re all so artistically beautiful, not to mention deadly functional in their design, even if only to open the mail. It’s cool to see these together to see the subtle (& not so subtle) differences exactly as these custom built knives should be. An early (70’s??) #2-5” is the only one that I own and the perfect way that it feels in hand is just outstanding.
Again, thanks for posting gentlemen.
