This is one of many reasons why I live in Idaho. Enjoy.

Pap:

I wish that our State Government cared about our environment. But when Bill Clements was Governor, he pretty much gave the oil companies a free pass to spill oil, salt water, and flare H2S all they wanted. Rick Perry did the same during his reign.

We had a particular nasty spill on Thursday that still threatens to contaminate my place. The State of a Texas gave me the “yea, yea, we will check into it”.

Then, I called the Sabine River Authority and told them that it could potentially pollute Lake Fork. It got their attention! Within a couple of hours, I got phone calls from the US Corps of Engineers and the EPA.

The EPA man, a State Guy, and the boss of the oil company met at the site Thursday evening. The EPA guy told all of them that the mess would get cleaned up immediately or that HE would get it cleaned up and they would pay for it.

They worked all night in freezing temperatures and were still working yesterday. I am sure that they are pissed at me. Well, it’s their turn!

I can show you a 40-50 acre place about a mile away from me that NOTHING has grown on during my entire lifetime.

The Corp of Engineers and EPA have way more authority than any state agency. You made the right choice and hopefully it will get cleaned up. Stay warm Coach.

Thanks Pap.

I’m watching Yellowstone right now and thinking about that video you posted.

Coach,
Glad that you were able to get some things moving in the right direction.

By the way,the government said that Agent Orange was "harmless"

Wayne, before his death, my Dad was receiving Agent Orange disability besides his 0-5 pension. They eventually admitted it.

Eric,
I was out of 'Nam before they started with the Agent Orange stuff,so I basically lucked out.

Sorry to hear about your Father. I have several friends and fellow VFW members that are dealing with the effects of that junk.

Wayne, thank you. Too many Vietnam vets had to wait to long to be properly thanked. All those brave men are heroes to me....even if they just pointed a flashlight to direct an aircraft on a runway.

On the day he died, my Uncle Paul told me that it was Agent Orange from his 2nd tour that had ruined his health.

And we have always thought that flaring the H2S gas right across the road from the Farm House caused my Dad’s Pancreatic Cancer. He spent a lot of time their after he retired.
