I just received my 80th anniversary collectors axe from Ruana Knife Works in Bonner Montana. I also received the new model "Reliable" both with serial number 89 the same as my Vic Hangas special.
Both are really nice additions to my growing Ruana collection
I could only post 200k images here
Peter

Nice pair Peter. Do you know if Ruana forges their hatchets?
Looking at the pics it appears that it was made from flat stock.
Good size hatchet.

Thanks guys

Warren, this is Ruana's description

The Bit & Body

One solid piece of 1/4” 1095 carbon steel, makes up the entire bit, body and tang that extends into the cast aluminum handle.
The hammer forged head measures about 5” from the butt end to the cutting edge.
The top of the bit to the hilt of the handle is about 8” long. This is much longer than our standard hatchet and creates good leverage and power for a working tool.
Acknowledgement of this being our 80th Anniversary Collector’s Edition and unique number is laser engraved into each axe.

Peter

Peter, Those are very nice I got number 23 on mine. I somehow missed out on the numbered Vic Hangas special, picked up a non- numbered it is really a nice knife. RIP Vic
