I'm looking for a good "Swayback Lockblade" pocket knife.
3" or so blade. D2 or similar steel. Waterproof scales.
Similar to below but I'd like to buy American. Any suggestions??

I think Great Eastern might make what you're looking for and USA made.

Thanks Warren, but I don't think that the GE blade locks.

I'm coming up empty with every Google search I try except there is a Case Tribal Lock, not a Swayback but it does lock.

Maybe ask one of the custom makers to put one together? It would be unique, but probably cost a little more than what you are seeking.

Way back when, there might have been one or two "tinkerers" or knife makers who could take a factory knife like a Case and modify it into a lock back.
Think H. H. Frank as a craftsman with the skills to do it, although I don't know specifically that he ever did.
But the cost would make it out of line for a beater knife.

Thanks Guys !!!
Here are a couple that I have run across.
The first is a Schatt & Morgan Express. It would probably be fine except it has wood handles and might not be waterproof. I have also heard that since there was a very limited run on these, it might be worth something someday.
The other is a knife I saw at Tulsa last Spring. It would be perfect but it had a $1350 price tag on it and I just couldn't do it.
Those that Buck put on his thread by Todd Davidson would be good if they were lock blades.

The two shown look like Wharncliffe Blades with a non-swayback handle shape. If you are flexible about the handle shape, there might be a locking Wharncliffe carving knife someone has made. Maybe look for an Owen Wood Linerlock made after 1999. He started in South Africa and moved to Golden, CO in 1999 to work at Spyderco. So I would assume anything post 1999 would be USA made.

I don't know how I missed that one.
HOWEVER, the last sentence in the description says: "Made in China"

Coach I have bought from AG a couple of knives marked Made in China and they were top notch. AG had found a maker in China that made top quality knives. The fit and finish was excellent as was the steel used. For the price you might want to check one out.

Maybe this? The best knife of 1998 (according to some magazine, it seems) - Kershaw Random Tusk 1510 They are still quite a lot on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/163541828193https://www.ebay.com/itm/254126305012https://www.ebay.com/itm/264195821738It was made in the USA, steel 440V (S60V), titanium frame, scales G10. It is made no worse than many custom ones, although it is a mass production. The only minus is the top blade shape is more modern than you want.

Coach,
GEC makes a US-made liner locking wharny, but it's not a swayback.
Their Model 99 (990118) Wall Street was released in 2018, and came with scales of elk, American Chestnut or orange jigged bone.
There's usually a few available on ebay, or you can check the GEC website which lists their authorized dealers.
Good luck with the hunt.
Bob

Hey Bob:
I’ve been looking for one of these model 99s in Elk and it appears that they all sold out like hot cakes as soon as they came available after the production run. I’m going to keep looking though. Surely one will turn up.
Thanks for pointing these out, Coach
