Wow, we've had so much rain this Summer. Locally here July was 6.25"; normally a dry month. With what's happening so far this month we'll surpass that easily. Today alone, Flash Flood Warnings here and in nearby PA. Rivers are over flood stage and made the evening news. I measure rainfall by how much water I need to drain from the pool.
Got a chance to cut the lawn yesterday, good move. That won't be happening soon.
Good news it's wet not white.

Drive 3 1/2 hrs north and we are in a drought. We did not get rain in July until the 3rd week.
I see on “Storm App” , right now, it is pouring at your place. The rain comes up to the border and stops. It must be some sort of tariff, I guess, that stops it from crossing the border.
For four days in July it was cooler in our hot tub than on the back deck.

Rod,

My team members in Rochester and Buffalo are in a drought too. I'll opt for the Winter drought thanks. At least we're green not brown.

Omg we got a deluge today. Came down so fast around 10AM this morning, rivers crested, yards and roads flooded. Lasted for about a hour. Sun came out, you wouldn't think it ever happened. Second wave this evening. We did better than some folks. Areas here have significant water damage.
This has been almost tropical storm rain, 400-600% above normal for the month.
Here's a link to a video of Taughannock Falls shot today in the Fingerlakes in NY.
These falls are taller than Niagara and running like a freight train.

We call that sudden heavy rain......"like a cow peeing on a flat rock".

We live in dairy land. That happens all the time here.
But official totals locally since July 1st thru yesterday are 12.14", +6.31" above normal and broke a record. I'll still take wet over white. NYS reservoirs are near capacity or above.

We visited that waterfall in 1996 while on vacation.

There was not near that amount of water.

It was a spectacular sight nonetheless.

Chief,
We use that same phrase ‘round here too.

I wish we could use it more this time of year.

Coach,

It gets going heavy in the Spring during the Winter melt but this is exceptional.

Meanwhile the Colorado River Reservoirs (Lake Powell & Lake Mead) are so low that they are talking about water restrictions for the lower Colorado River states (CA, NV, AZ, NM) for the first time in history.
Aspen, CO, is on water restrictions for the first time in history.
Lookin' like the dust bowl years
