Jon, I would suggest ordering exactly what you desire from Stanaback. He can have it in about 10 months or so. You get to make all the choices......

Jon,

I have a Model 12-9"-#14 grind, Sportsman's Bowie with the Model 25 handle, due for delivery in October/November 2018.

Unfortunately, not a single hilt. It will have a nickel-silver forward-curved hilt.

Just consider it as your "Plan B" Sportsman's Bowie. Delivery is expected in about four months.

If interested, send me an email.

Jon,
They're a bit hard to come by. The last one I built was about 3-4 years ago. It featured a stainless blade, an "N-25" handle with NASA Off White G-10. I'd be happy to order you one, similar to the one below and, of course, using stag.
Best, Capt. Chris

Hey Jon,

If you do it with a single hilt, you might want to consider a square top single hilt.

Here is a pic of my 12-9/14 with a flat top single hilt. The pic is not that good so I'm also attaching a pic of my 1-8 and both of my Sasquatches all with a flat single hilt.

Here's one of the 2 I had Doug make for me. It is the closest thing, in the Randall line-up, to a Marine Corps "Bolo"! (One got sold to the "Adobe Guy")...forgot his name. Mine has a squared top and #22 handle shape, in leather, which (of course) means a Crows Beak butt cap
Stay sharp, Capt. Chris

Jon here’s a nice one. You would need to grind the top of the hilt down then you would have a single hilt......but you would have to grind me down to get it.

Thanks to all who replied and especially for all your offers to help. I think going with the Capt on a special order will be the best option. Thanks to all again.

Forgot to mention, but if I were you, I would ask the Captain for a piece of custom Sambar Stag. If you look at pictures of the 12-9 #14 grind on the internet, you see a lot of differences in the Stag. You never now what you are gonna get from the Randall shop. I never seen an ugly handle, but there are a lot of differences between them. Custom supplied Stag costs extra, but if this is your dream knife, I would do it.

The 12-9 #14 grind is also, the biggest knife Randall makes in O1 tool steel and Stainless Steel. I love the model!

Jon, I have just posted on the #12- #14 Grind in the "Knives of the week" Models 1-28, with my comments on recent usage and feed back if you are interested.
Hope it doesn't confuse the issue for you.

I use all my Randalls (all S/S) and even though they are expensive, no regrets at all as users.
#7 5" + #25 5" + #1 6" + #5 7.5"+ #18 7.5 " #12 9" (I think that's all?)
Cheers, Wayne
