I have a Bear Whitetail II compound and am now thinking of getting an Excalibur crossbow.

Attila,
Nice arrows there. Is the bow traditional or compound??

Attila,

I use Hoyt Carbon Extreme and Bowtech General; both compound bows tuned to 75# with ACC Carbon Arrows.

New Zealand is the land of the next Red Stag was bigger than the last one. Mine was 440 inches, they are taking stags 700+ inches.

Great people, love hunters and good times. As beautiful a place as anything I have ever seen. Should be on everyone's bucket list.

Thos,
Really super nice trophy!!

What arrow set up did you use??

Did you really need 75#? Best I can do is to manage with 52#.

Got used to 75#; arrows ACC Carbon Express 350gr shaft with 125gr.G-5 Montec fixed blades.

Put one straight through the Stag at 29 yards and another one for insurance at 50+ yards.

I travel with two bows always. If something happens to your string or cam, not likely that you can get it repaired or restrung and could ruin your trip.

Pelican bow case has room to carry two bows with sites in place.

Tom,
That is a real great set up you have there and a very good idea about a spare bow.

For my Bear White Tail II ,I use Easton arrows with Ted Nugent broadheads.

It is quite common for arrows to go through game. Superior designed broadheads have come a long way over the years.

TAH,
I like the set up with your Bear Kodiak and the Buck knife. Nothing wrong with a Buck knife, probably most of us here have one or many more!!! I plead guilty to that!!!

I think Warren wears Pink Bows to cover his bald spot I'll see if I can get him to post some pictures.

Wait till you're my age. I'll have the last laugh. And it's not a "bald spot", just a "look of the future"

Warren,
I hope you heal soon from all the arrows Chief slung at you.
Also it's not a bald spot. It's a solar panel for a sex machine.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!!

Warren,
It is not hijacking,it is "diversion of discussion".

Getting off the sex machine kick and back to bows.

It has been a number of years since I pulled a bow back and can't even start pulling my Bear Whitetail II so I purchased a bow trainer and am including it in my weight workout routine.

Right now I am doing repettions with 30 lbs and finishing up with 40#. Probably by a couple of weeks will be up to 55#.

Only owned one bow Wayne. It was a Bear Alaskan II. Gave up after I injured my rotator cuff. Never bothered again. I might consider a cross bow now legal in NY.

Warren,
I was looking into crossbows as well.

I like the simple Excalibur bows as they can be fixed in the field and are pretty much bullet proof.

The "bicycle bows" out there look way too complicated for me.
