Oh you are in trouble now. Now, if we can get Phil and family to endorse Randall's, then it's really all over.

What a great topic: I am Bless to live in New Mexico and raised my family here: We all Hunt, Fish, and Camp. We have big game, small game and good fishing. Back to the topic, Number #1 rifle is my 300 Win Mag. we hand load all our ammo and we use 180 gr for Elk and Bear, 150 gr for Deer and Antelope. Mostly long range 300yds plus. We have Prairie dogs!! finest self erecting targets know to man. 223, 22-250 and 308 (will suck a dog out of his hole at 600yds). Eastern NM has ducks, geese, pheasant, quail (bobs, blues, gambles) prairie chickens, doves. so shotguns are big part of our hunting also. thanks for the great stories

I'm a 30-cal guy at heart, I have .30-'06 and .308 equipment/supplies/ammo/firearm all over the place. FYI, all of the .30-'06 firearms are USGI purchased from the CMP over the past two decades.

I'm itching to get into 25-06, though. I like the thought of zeroing my scope at 200yrds and I'm good for 100-350 without any "come-ups" on the sight picture. Bonus in that I can build a 6lb rifle without that 30-cal kick against the shoulder.

The biggest drawback is the barrel needs to be 24" minimum. Annoying but I can live with that.

Windsor, Dave Loomis has a 25.06 varmint rig he was selling at Tulsa. I am sure he will see this.....

I do see this.
I took a 25-06 in trade a while back and have not had a chance to shoot it yet.
Remington 700 BDL, Monte Carlo Stock with Cheekpiece, Deluxe Wood with Checkering, Black Pistol Grip End Cap and Fore-end Cap, Gloss Finish, Bipod.
It has a Bushnell Trophy 6-18 x 50 Scope. The original owner said he set it up for Coyote hunting.
The ammo is very interesting: 30-06 necked down to 25 caliber.

Yeah, I'm going Mauser-style extractor on this build. I'll probably start out with a 30-06 and have it re-barreled so that I can also have the barrel threaded for a suppressor (which I already own). A lot of hunting-profile factory 25-06 barrels are pretty thin on the business end.

An 8" suppressor on a 24" barrel, yikes. At least the suppressor I have is one of the lighest ones on the market.

For some reason, I am in love with the .375 H&H. I do or have owned Win 70s, Safari Ruger #1s, and Encore barrels in the caliber. Currently, my favorite is a very nice Sauer with custom wood furniture that a person in one of the knife forums traded me. I traded a matching set of RMK model 14 and 15s for it. She's a tack-driver. I have never tried using it to hunt as the deer are pretty small here in this part of Alabama.

Yeah the deer are small here also!
Wife has a 170ish Great Dane that is bigger than the deer around here!
And if it chews up another pair of my lucchese's I'm gonna tie antlers on his head & send him out next deer season!
