Pap,
Looks like an excellent piece.

However,in my "Constitution State" any magazine with more than 10 rounds is a big no-no.

So you are pretty much stuck with Models 30,36,26,27,43 to be legal.

We can get a standard 19 with a 10 round magazine but the fact that this pistol wont interchange with 19 mags forget about it here too. 10 rounds max

Warren,
Like I had said before, getting a large pistol like a model 19 with only a ten round magazine does not make much sense to me.

I would be better off with a model 26.

Most folks now prefer a model 43,seems to be a bit smaller in some ways.

I'll be checking that 19X out whenever it hits the dealers.

Well, I checked one out, and it followed me home. I'll see what it'll do tomorrow at the indoor range. I'm sure it'll be much better than me. Looks good, feels good so far.

Shot the 19X yesterday and I'll say, it shoots about like any other Glock I've fired. After the first bang I had a FTE. cleared it and continued on. The gun had four FTEs during the first 60 or so rounds. Tried all three mags and that didn't help. I put it back in the box and figured I'd take it back to the dealer I bought it from. Pressed on with the Sig and Kimber. I decided to try the 19 again and had a box of 100 that I ran through it and the gun ran flawlessly. Maybe I had some ammo that it didn't like, but I thought Glocks were immune to ammo differences.
Anyway, I like the longer grip and the night sights. The trigger pull is a tad shorter than that on my 23.
It is your basic Glock that looks cool.
Although my Sig P229 Legion cost nearly twice as much, I'll take it any day over the Glock.

Byrdguy,
It is quite possible that new piece just needed a little break in. Although it is not common with Glocks,it does occur.

I bet now it will chug right along no matter what you put in it.

If the problem does still exist, don't take it back to the dealer but give Glock a call in GA. They will probably send you a shipping label. Trust me on this,a gun in for repair does not stay long at the plant. Turn around is probably a week door to door.

I think you're right, Wayne. That last 100 rounds went through it like poop through a goose. If I can get back to the range next weekend, I'll heat it up with a couple hundred rounds. If it does act up, I'll take your advice and call Glock.

Chief, those Legions are slick as snot on a doorknob, aren't they? I love mine.

Hope to order a new 19x today. I was told it may be until
June until I get it. Just sent my p320 compact .45 to SIG for the voluntary upgrade program. They are adding a lighter trigger, and fixing the sear and safety lever to prevent drop discharges. One other side note....if you buy the .45 acp P320 You can not interchange it with any other caliber. I tried to buy the modular 357 SIG kit for my p320 and found out the .45 platform is not interchangeable with the other calibers.

Byrdguy,
I have a feeling that you will not be making that call to Glock. It is pretty well settled in and will chug right along.

I have a Model 36 after about a gazillion rounds had the slide lock lever spring break. A call to Glock and the following Monday I shipped it off via FedEx and that Friday it was back in my hands just like new. They also replaced the recoil spring as well. No charge!!!

Let us know how the second range session goes.

Pat,

My first range session with my out of the box G30 several years ago was disappointing to say the least. Was trying to feed several boxes of Federal 185Gr SWC Jacketed. I probably had at least 10 jams until I switched to 230 FMJ and from there never looked back. Later I found a blog related to my exact problem.

Yeah, I just grabbed three boxes of ammo as I was gathering my range bag and don't even know what I was shooting until fired the last box of 100. It was federal American Eagle 115 Gr. FMJ. No problems at all with that box. I think the gun is fine and will run like a Glock is supposed to from here on.

A lighter trigger! Might do mine, see if it is as good as my PPQ!
Good info, thanks.

My experience is mainly with the G36, G17, and G43. The full sized gun started to suffer in reliability when they flaired the port, and angled the extractor top corner.

That is only a visual cue, along with the LCI, where perhaps the mass of the exterior bump had to be balanced by shortening, and, more importantly, the extractor went from a substantial hook, to a shorter, less substantial, and dulled edges hook, and a MIM part from cast.

Swapping to the longer straight extractor, along with associated spring plunger plastic bits normally has any 9mm ticking they way they did, and should. You would think it would, what, ruin the looks, or something? But, unless you KNEW what one was supposed to look like or had two otherwise identical guns side by side, nobody would ever notice it. Mine had anemic extraction until the extractor swap, and now it is a manly man operating cycle and no longer wimps them towards the shooter's face.

A highly recommended "mod" of swapping one OEM part for another. The old extractors widely available, for now, so long as Glock still forced to support older gun contracts, which will expire soon, so get'm while the gettin's good. A colorized gun owner will have cosmetic challenges, for sure.

Glock addressed the problem, and not satisfactorily for many owners, by lengthening the ejector to try to make up for the extractor. Why? I dunno, but suspect the cheap stamped longer part a lot cheaper than a bunch of new MIM molds, perhaps changes in slide to match what was needed, etc. They invested heavily in the changes.

So far, after seeing MANY Glocks in use,I have yet to see any problems with them.

I did see problems come up when owners started to switch around parts and do "customizing" on the gun.

Just my experience.

Google "G17 brass in face" and you will see a problem of enormous proportion. The 17 an easy fix using alternate OEM parts, the 19 is also going through a spate of extractor problems from redesign, engendering another cottage industry of "fixes".

Well, I had this one at the range today and put about 100 rounds through it with nary a wimper or hiccup. Wayne you were right, it chugs along like the Energizer Bunny. really a nice shooter, but I think I'm going to work the trigger to make it a little crisper.

Never had brass to the face with any of my pre Gen4 guns. My G20 & 30 Gen3, and 27 Gen 2.5 run flawlessly. I purposely stayed away from the Gen4 due to the problems mentioned.

Sounds wonderful to me, and hope this marks the end of interminable side by side close-ups of extractors showing why new and improved being only new.

Now, if they only would do something about the 17. Which is wishful thinking with already Gen 5 and no doubt Gen 6 already being worked.

Yep, and that would depend on whether Gen 4 parts installed in later Gen 3s, such as later and STILL produced G17s. Which mine was, and got an extractor swap, and runs as it should.
