Those 'ought a' do it......grab hold & not let go. Seems like I just can't help liking to shoot, and would happily try out both of those.

Back from the range. Wow this 35Rem is sweeet shootin'. Had this thing dialed in quickly. Would have stayed longer but the flies were ferocious. I'm looking forward to taking it hunting this fall. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

Love my TC's, but I have Encore rifles, not pistols. Never had a 35, but did have a 444 Marlin for a while. Killed a black bear with it. An interesting caliber.

Pap,

Never had or fired a .444 but always liked the .45-70. It's a handful in the Contender pistol but that Marlin lever with the cowboy loop and octagon barrel is calling me. Love it, someday.....

A couple of friends shoot their Socom and Baewolfs at the range. I must say that when they go off,you really know something had happened!!!!

I am not a real fan of the AR platform being that one was thrust into my hands 53 years ago and it did not work too well.

If you like them, then I agree with you and think that you made the right choice, just that these memories do linger on and I have reservations about that platform.

Could not agree more my friend; similar experience and have zero need/use for it now.....and less need to discuss/argue their pluses/minusses with others.
Welcome again to this "Quality Forum"!
And, are you kin to Dieter?

Duke,
Yes,Dieter was my cousin. He's in Arlington National Cemetery now.

With the ARs,if that is what a person likes, then I say that is your best choice and enjoy it.

As for me,I prefer more traditional type firearms.

OK,I am an old fart. So old that I remember when both the movies and air were clean.................

This year for the first time in Indiana we can use our 45-70,50-70,& 50-110. They are based on the Remington Hepburn. We only shoot with black powder. 458 Socom & 50 Beawolf are the smokeless counter parts

Ironworker,
If I am not mistaken it was your state as well as Ohio that passed "the straight walled rifle case" rounds to be used for hunting??

I have a Shiloh Sharps 45/70. I only use BP loads in it. The rifle is heavy and the recoil is basically modest. Switch that to a 5 1/2 lbs H&R and things get a bit....interesting.

True enough, I have a Browning single shot in 45-70. It is an eye opener with a 500g cast bullet. Then I tried some factory 330g jacked bullets. It was not a happy time .
