Thought I would post this so more may identify a great looking fake from the real Mccoy. The bottom one is the impostor. The top example was authenticated by Gary Randall in 1999. I bought the fake one a while ago because I thought it was real.....hopefully, no one else who views this post will make the same mistake.

Looks like all they done was shortened the blade. Are the handles the same length?

The handles are the same size in length and circumference, as are the screw caps.

It would have fooled me.

Looks pretty good for a fake Eric. To the unknowing you might not suspect a fake. Side by side I see different features. Sawteeth look a little goofy but the rest is close at least to my eye. Did it have a sheath?

The fake was in a Mini Model C RMK marked JRB Sheath

No S stamp for stainless If they all had stainless blades

I do not know if all were stainless or not, all I know is the lower one is definitely fake.

The fake started as a genuine, although full sized 18. The blades are both real RMK blades, one reground for the purpose of deception, it's easy to see how it would fool most people, me included. A great lesson for us, sorry it came at your expense.

Safe to say that probably would have fooled a lot of us, especially those (like me) that don't have much exposure to mini's.
If there's an upside, you have a pretty cool conversation piece - folks would probably be ogling the fake more than the real one.
Don't know if that really helps or not but thanks for sharing it..
