Love the blade shape with the squared hilt. Maybe the thong hole is homemade,or is it possible for the tubing to work loose and come out over time?

I said the same Cap, but those spacers are 80's. If it were late 60's, micarta would normally had 7 spacers. I had this one for a while. Perry authenticated it to the 80's said about 5 were made. There is another in the green Crider catalog. Here is the Crider knife. It says 60's, but.... spacers.

late 70's to early 80's. Maroon micarta, thick center spacer. My guess is the blade started life as a model 5. I do not think the thong hole was done by the shop. It would have been lined when this knife was made as Mitchel's is. Possible one slipped through, but with a "custom" blade like that, I believe everything else would have been made to current specs.
Note that Burnie's is an Orlando blade whereas Tune's and the Crider catalog knife are Solingen.

And that is why we take no $&!? from anyone who questions of why we named Dorksky the "Official Randall Authenticator"!
Cudos to you Joe for catching these differences from an altered #5 to "look" like one of those Soligen blades...

I believe the knife is legitimate. The knife Tune had was also mine that he purchased from me! as he has been trading with me for years. In hand it looks and I feel made by Randall.....it's way cool any way you take it.....:)

Tom, this knife appears to be, to those who know, a model #5 from the early eighties that has been altered to look like one of the 5 Soligen fighters that were made with a clip-point and a second false top edge (much like the RKS knife and 4-6F today), probably just because someone liked how it looked! Hope this clears this all up for you!

Either way it's a great looking find for you sir...bring it to Blade and we can take even a better look, but some things are just more obvious than others..

Scott sorry for the slow response I've been covered up with work and life in general. Lori has been dealing with serious health problems and I've been moving some of my knife and gun collection. I returned the knife to the seller as he is a long time friend and collector. Thank you again for enlightened me on the knife and again I'm not nearly as knowledgeable and appreciate your help. Best Burnie
