I was so stoked when I got this call from Grant today followed by an email and the pics below.
Another collaboration knife between James and Mudbone.
I'll let Grant's words do the talking from his email.

"In this project the blades were forged, ground, heat treated and guards soldered in place before they went to Mud and the rest you see is him, and his wife Theresa’s handy work on the beautiful cross hatching on the sheath (he wanted that noted). I was on the phone with him for about an hour this Sunday before having even seen them and he was going on about how proud of the group he is, and it shows.
The Hunter is hand forged from 3/16” thick 01 and measuring 4” from tip to copper guard. Black and maroon fiber, copper, brass, and g10 spacers come together with the beautiful fossil walrus butt. Has a real nice heft to it (more than 1 1/8” thick at the ivory). Overall length measures 8 1/2” and the grizzly sheath is just awesome."

Well here you go, hope you like it as much as I do.

Here we go again #3 in the BMK/Mudbone series and this may be the best so far. I got wind of this one about a month ago while Mud was putting on some the final touches. Hard to see but James mistakenly stamped this blade upside down. I mean just look at the hand carved feathers on that fossil. How awesome is that? Another great collaboration.

Great knife, love the blade. The carved feathers on the handle are awesome. The sheath is pretty cool with the figures on the back and the artwork on the front. Well done collaboration between Warren, James and Mud!

Well Happy New Year, #4 on the way. Both BMK and Mudbone
killed it. Pics speak for themselve; these just in from Grant.
I'm Lucky to own any of the collaboration knives by James and Mud.

Thanks guys. Spoke with Mud last night. He's done single action pistol holsters like this but never for a knife. He did a great job on that old school handle too.

It should be noted that this was fresh outta the box photography. We sent this blade off to ol' Mud with the guard soldered in place in what must have been some time in October at this point. These collaborations are always very open ended- we do whatever we want with the blade and our bud Mud handles the rest, until final polish. I came in on Saturday to finish off a few projects and polishing this blade and guard up was part of those duties.

I've got to agree that this is easily my favorite collab to date. The sheath had my jaw dropping (along with some of other package contents) but all the more once I drew the knife because I had actually forgotten what shape we had made and sent. The knife and sheath absolutely crush it together. I'm anxious to shoot the final pics (waiting on James to do the edge work) and you gentleman shall all soon see what I'm talking about. Congratulations on this get Warren- I'm pleased to have been a part of this one smile

Also, we're the bearers of the Mudbone x Behring stamp, but I suggested we send it to Mudbone and flip flop the process, having him start with the blade work. We make the handle, and send it back then for a custom leather jacket.

He definitely sounded intrigued......

Fellas- let's keep Mud busy in 2018!!

Grant,

Thanks once again for making it happen. Going to post your final pics below. The arrowhead was a surprise. I did not see that first time around. The reverse build sounds good. Lots of good things happening for the new year.

That arrowhead is one of his signatures. Mud told me how he hand hammers every rivet from solid copper. Just any hammer wouldn't do, nope he forged his own hammer too.

The latest #5.
A 3" drop point skinner. Razor sharp blued blade & blued steel hilt by BMK.
Mudbone finished it off with a wicked cool stag and oak leaf engraved FWI handle.
First ever I believe solid copper Mudbone acorn butt.
Sheath another Mudbone masterpiece the "Green Man". Wouldn't be finished without Miss Teresa's Latigo braided edge.

Just when you think the dynamic duo of BMK and Mudbone have done it all, they just knock it out of the park.
Gotta love the Green Man carved into the crown stag.
Both on the way next week.

Something not noticed in previous blades after speaking with Mudbone this evening; the stamp is knife and bone crossed. First blade finished bright in the series and clearly stamped.

Jay,

Many thanks, I know you are a fan of BMK and Mudbone. Both speak highly of you. I'll get a family shot up sometime soon of the first 7 collaboration knives.

Seems like every time I open that package from Mud, I have new favorites. Love the Green Man carving, and really dig the color scheme and feel of the other. Can't ask for better.

There are a few other collab knives out there too- Mike knows what I'm talking about... the HellBilly!

Couple of group shots. Adds a bit of scale and comparison to each knife.

Every one of Mudbone's is a classic, as are the Behrings that go with them. All over the top.

Thanks fellas, it's been fun guessing what the next knife will be. Every blade is stamped Behring Mudbone; knife and bone are crossed. The only blade which clearly visible is the fillet knife.
Pics are in the order I received them, and more details on each one earlier in the thread. Enjoy as much as I have until the next. No idea at all, whenever.

Okay, so, as usual, I think I have missed something here. So, Warren, they just periodically design and build a knife and sheath for you and just send it to you? If so, that's a way cool venture you have going there that clearly produces great results.

Grant gives me first right of refusal before it would be listed. So far I haven't turned him down.

Was referring to how when the 1st two came out you called & shared.......the only one you told them no to & let someone else get.

Hey folks-

Just a quick note that anytime we finish up a knife, be it a collab or simply something I know a particular individual has a preference for, I personally enjoy sharing "first rights of refusal" to those that I know would appreciate it. It's not exclusive however, and if any of you are interested in acquiring a Mudbone X Behring collaboration (or anything else for that matter) all you have to do is ask smile

Thanks everyone!
