Actually, Dave was an employee of Randall Knives for 30 years, and made his own knives after leaving RMK...very much influenced by Randall as you can tell...

They aren't sought after collectibles but to a few of us who had personal relationships with Dave...

Nice knife though...value? $200-300 tops...

When was most of his work made Scott? Also did he use Johnson for leather?

I really like the knives that Dave Griffin worked on. Here is one of my favorite Randalls. DP Hunter in Ivory

Scott, When I do sell, I will give you first refusal. I have your number.

I also found a John L. Kemp Drop Point. Another former RMK employee knife example. Not sure what he "R" marking in his logo designates?

Two more Dave Griffin Knives. One is a Mini Model 2 and the other a sweet interpretation of a Model 1 with a 7 1/8" Blade.

Pictured are 4 of the Dave Griffin knives I have found in the last couple of months. Mini model 2 in Ivory, mini model 10 in maroon micarta, model 1 in Ivory and FWI and maybe a Model 26/drop point with wood and yellow micarta. I put some RMK comparison pics to show the former RMK workers inspiration. Last pic has a John Kemp DP, also a former RMK employee who made knives after he left RMK.

Those are beautiful knives and a fine niche to collect. I wish I had started earlier on some alternative makers who used Randall designs during the war and afterwards, such as Ralph Bone, but now instead of half Randall price, his stuff is near Randall price. At least as far as sellers are concerned.

Eric,
Not a SFG: It's called a "Griffin Handle", has been since Dave started doing it.
Nice knife!
Best, Capt. Chris

For decades the RMK "Drop Point" hunter was known as the "Griffin Hunter". This practice was stopped when Dave left the shop (Late 1980's)...(For what it's worth)
Best, Capt. Chris
PS: Not "all" of those old DPH's had a SFG (Griffin) handle...CCS

Warren, I do not know how many total or how many mini's Mr. Griffin made. I just found this #1, and had a miniature #2 and #10. Scott may know more.

Another Griffin, the blade is 3 1/2” long and 6 3/8” overall. Full tang with micarta handles. I really like this one.

Just an extra sheath laying around, I am kind of a pack rat. Sometimes the knife looks ridiculous in its new sheath. Here is a perfect example.
