Behring Men came through again; this time with an awesome pair of Musk-ox Rick Bowles Style Skinners!

Any other Behring pairs out there?

Thanks Rocky,

Not as many pairs around from Behring. Like the crow's beak shape in the Ivory handles. Great pair.

Behring Men came through big; this time with an amazing Skinner/Sticker Pair with Basket-weave Rowe Sheaths! The handle material I supplied them with was an awesome pair of matched Fossil Walrus that I bought at Blade 2014.

Thank you Steve! The FWI were just short of the Randall requirements for length and didn't want to put on butt caps. James came up with a great pair allowing the FWI to shine!

Peter,

Thank you, and they do rise to every challenge!

Here is a pair I have in process! Behring Goliath & Fighter stainless steel blades with Redwood Burl pinned with FWI spacers; copper sub-hilts; out now for checkering the grips, engraving & then sheaths. Cannot wait to see them finished.

Did I say I like BIG Knives!!

Ok Tom now you are just being mean lol! All of your sets are awesome!
The FWI handles from blade were a great get. Hard to find fossil that can be shaped & still keep there color without a lot of, (what I call pith) coming through.
Great color too, You did Good!

Chief,

While the fun of Blade is meeting everyone, the opportunity to search for the right handle materials is what we all go for.

Chief,

I bought it at Blade 2 years ago. Wanted to do a pair of Rick Bowles Skinners but it fell short of the minimum length needed for the shop and would have had to put on a pair of butt caps. I didn't want to lose the exposed butt end.

BMK was willing to do it without the caps. I have a good sized pair of mitts and the handles are plenty long enough.

I'm almost positive that the gentleman that ordered this next triplet isn't a member of KnifeTalkForums, so I had to make sure you gents all saw what we just finished here at the shop. Full matching set with a camp knife, scimitar and beautiful nessmuk. They're all cut from the same tusk and couldn't have turned out better.

Happy Friday yall! We're counting down to Blade Show

LOL reverse compensation!
Hard to get good Amboyna so I use it on all I can.
I have to say I was really curious when I saw the "file" knife on their site, so I got them to make me one. It is now one of my favorites. That small one is 1 of their pocket knife series.
I need to take some pics of the killer sheathes that came with them.

Tom,

This is the first Scimitar from BMK so far, and the blade measures 15 1/2" from tip to guard with a 3 1/2" belly at the fattest point.

This just in from The Captain and Behring Made Knives. Elsewhere on another thread I previously posted the 9" Parang Machette. I got this from Cap back at the Lakeland show this year. He said the 5" companion knife was on it's way; they belong together. They're set-up for right side conventional carry, or left side horizontal carry. Outstanding workmanship and a great pair. Many thanks to the Captain, Behring Made, and Rowe Leather. They just keep knocking it out of the park.

Yes Sir Cap they do belong on the same page. Good call on the Lil Guy. I'll just make that little one my sidearm buddy around the yard this year; it looks indestructible. I'll save the big one for more manly tasks. Thanks again, great pairing and making it happen.

This thread delivers again. Warren, those are stunning. To me, what I notice right away is how the stag pulls the copper color and the spacers pull the hammer marks. Really nice color palette on those. Just one alone like that would be striking, but the pair is just amazing.

Warren, Capt. Chris and the Behring Men; great effort and an absolutely perfect set of knives, set-up and sheaths!

This is definitely becoming one of those threads that will endure and continue to challenge the minds and delivers on craftsmanship!

Kudos to all! And Warren keeps the prize; all's right in the world, eh Warren?

You did REALLY well with these Warren! My wife agrees, she loves the products the Behring crew puts out. I especially like the sheaths, the small one with the Behring logo on it is about perfect.

Grant,

Amazing, over the top! Thanks so much for posting this pair for me. I'm on vacation this week and can't post any photos.
OK here's the low down. After the guys returned from Boise a few weeks ago we had been looking at another project. Grant and James came back with a piece of artifact fossil. That piece was large enough to make both these knives.
Now to the blades, the large blade is a bear bowie inspired shape except it's bigger bear at 11 inches in length and 2 1/2 " wide . The second knife is one of James's double edge fighters around 9" long.
I couldn't be happier with the pair. I didn’t want to part with the second half of the fossil and the fighter came out great.
Once again guys you're knocking it out of the park. Now we got to work on some leather. Thanks for everything.

If you recall we talked about that piece of fossil. Grant said that it was a perfect fit for both blades. The color and detail in that piece is awesome. When I get home next week I'll post up the the fossil that made these two. It was huge.

Well I finally figured out to post photos from this tablet. Here's the piece of artifact fossil that made these 2 knives. It's the top piece of course. There's not a slouch in the group.

Warren,

Outstanding pair of knives!!!! The size and shape are perfect for the FWI. The graining of the large piece of FWI is beautiful and unique. Knife collecting doesn't get better than this!

Just think about what BMK has been putting out in the last two to three years. 'Knifemakers Hall of Fame' stuff being produced in Missoula with a passion.

I'd like to note to all.....

The large piece of ox on the left, and those other two tusks are still around. If anyone has been considering big sets I've got what you see, and a slew of other goodies in the bag. Nothing big planned for the next batch so far, just waiting on your ideas.....

Well I'm extremely pleased to report that Grant contacted me today and sent pics of my completed artifact fossil pair. I'm pretty taken back by the outcome and it's over the top once again. Check out the Hi-Ride Rowe gator sheathes with canteen snaps. The bowie is set-up for left side cross draw and the fighter strong side carry. Thank you to everyone at Behring Made and Rowe Leather. Outstanding workmanship and thank you for never saying we can't do that to any of my ideas. I'll be seeing you boys at Blade next week for a very personal THANK YOU!
And here's the completed pair; give the guys a shout out if you like them.

Father and son pair -- well sort of. At least they looked to me like they go well together. Top knife is a Treeman and the bottom is a BMK. Both are (primarily) fossil walrus.

Artifacts Jim- even better!

The Senior is from years ago, with the Junior being from one of our latest batches. Both of them were fun to have around for a bit.

This just in from Behring Made. These were two artifact fossil handled knives I picked up at Blade. They're just back from Kenny Rowe Leather. Exceptionally interesting handles; they're works of art. They did it again, and Kenny did and outstanding job on the Elephant inlayed pouch sheathes. Thanks again guy's!

These two are quite likely I'm told to be the last you'll see. James doesn't want to do these anymore. I'm also told there's a third that James made for a personal friend not going anywhere soon. Both quite different and unique in their own way. The Fossil Walrus from Tune at Blade 2016 and the Scagel inspired smaller blade just arrived. The smaller reminds me of Bill the Butcher from Gangs Of New York.

Behring Made Meat Cleavers. These way pre-date the Behring Straights, but good eye Mark! I hadn't even considered the comparison of the Cleaver and the Straight- damn close!

Warren- you need little Straights to match your big cleavers smile

when are the Mudbone sheaths due in, I think you need a left hand and right hand so you can wear one on each side. It would be very intimidating.

Best idea you've had in a long time. Kinda wondering why I didn't think of that. Lol
I figure it this way, by the time I'm ready for the nursing home, I'll have more than enough knives to get the head chef job. grin
