Just curious about a Cotton Sampler... Those of you that have them, what do you think about them, as far as using them for everyday stuff.

They do a very good job skinning. Not too handy as an EDC but neater than 2 bugs fighting.

That's kinda what I was thinking myself. I like a curved blade for skinning (especially light skinned critters) and for cleaning fish (especially buffalo). I bet it would take the backstrap out of a deer in a hurry. And even if it was a little large, I'd be able to show it off to everyone. If someone asked me what that huge bulge in my pocket was I just say, That's my ol' Tony Bose Cotton Sampler. Marvin still has a couple in his store and I think I'm gunna get the stag one.

This looks like a good place to post one

The cotton sampler is 4 1/8" long, ATS-34 blade and spring, SS liners/fluted bolsters/pins, SS pinned shield, and drop dead gorgeous ivory.

The blade on the cotton sampler(patterned after a Remington cotton sampler) is one of the most difficult folder blades to grind properly. The blade is 5/32" thick at the tang and has a double step grind that culminates into a deep potbelly spey at the point. It all needs to be symetrical or you end up with a nightmarish mess.

Do you know why Tony makes the cotton sampler?

That's something nice for sore eyes. Next to the saddlehorn, that's my second favorite design...love the shape of that blade.

very much enjoyed the pics...

I'm just curious. How many of you would use this nknife if you had it. Half of me is dieing to use it and the other half wants to put it up and use one of my cheaper knives. I bought it because I like it but I think I like it too much... and it's just the case version. I think I would be afraid to breath on the real deal.
