Narwhal Scimitar Two Hands Behemoth - 07/24/17 07:07 AM

BMK went over the top on this one.

James had a beautiful piece of Narwhal at the Blade Show and half of it was already spoken for, to make a two knife set for a customer. I told James I would take the other half and was thinking about what two knives I would want from my half.

After walking through the Zombie Apocalypse section of the Blade Show, I walked back to James and told him I wanted to keep the piece intact and wanted a two hand Scimitar. His eyes lit up and said "I have this one".

Mudbone was there and we talked about the sheath and some of the things I would like to see on it. Celtic symbols and a tooled Narwhal along with a snap over keeper.

That was the last that we talked and the pic's came in on Friday from BMK. Next step Mudbone does his thing…. I have the back hide from an African Mountain Nyala with a long tail that I may send to Mudbone, to see what he can do with it on the sheath.

Particulars-Narwhal Scimitar, Blade measures 16” tip to guard, and 25” overall- two hands on this behemoth and Grant did the final sanding and polishing.

Can't wait to have this one in hand while watching Game of Thrones!

LOL, for sure. Would make a great feral python wacker in the Glades. While a real beauty to admire, it's actual to use is quite remarkable for tropical use and survival. I'd bet on it to be a real workhorse.

Re: Narwhal Scimitar Two Hands Behemoth - 07/25/17 07:16 AM

Thanks Guys!

Warren just sent Fed Ex to Mud with all the wants and some African Mountain Nyala back hide with tail, to see what he can do with it. Some Celtic symbols, some edging and all will be good. Left side/cross draw sheath should work. Open on top to let this big boy out of the sheath with a keeper. Cannot wait to see what Mudbone does with it!

Nobody mentioned the blue steel fittings. Got one on the way with steel and it's a subdued but cool look.

Had a short conversation with Mudbone yesterday about the sheath for this big guy, for 40 minutes LOL. He is one interesting dude, an artist that absolutely loves what he does. Doesn't miss a detail and adds what he knows will look best.

He got me excited, said it should be done soon.

Pic's to follow.

Grady was easy speak. With Mud never know where the conversation goes. He loves a challenge though, it fires him up mad

Re: Narwhal Scimitar Two Hands Behemoth - 10/30/17 06:26 AM

Mudbone finished his magic on this Celtic themed sheath. There was over a month of work on this one by Mudbone.

Mudbone is an amazing artisan & craftsman. He was worried that I wouldn't be happy because he couldn't do one of the details I had suggested; by incorporating part of my Mountain Nyala hide from my Africa trip. All I can say is WOW! this one has it all. Serpeants, dragons, Narwhal, hand tooling, hand dyed contrasting.

I think this has been a tremendous collaboration of materials and craftsmen-James, Grant, the BMK Team and especially Mudbone Jones! Thanks guys.

In related news.... Mudbone's gonna be down 6-8 months. He needs hyrnia surgery from lifting this beast, AND Tommy John surgery from trying to fit this monster into that sheath repeatedly!!

Sorry guys.... and by guys I mostly mean Warren.

Look at the size comparison photo of the Narwhal Smith, and the Narwhal Large & Small Sasquatch along side of the BMK Narwhal Scimitar.
