Tarzan Knife - 04/14/18 12:12 PM

Does anyone have a good picture of the original Tarzan knife that Johnny Weissmuller used in his movies? Might be a neat build.

That looks like it in that article. I took some pictures of it on the Tarzan movie today on TIM. Not the best, but the handle looks correct.

Looks like an aluminum cast head. Thoughts?

Cool knife indeed, but the flared out guard and butt aren't something we would re-produce....

I wonder if Ruana would cast the aluminum handle since they do for their knives.

I'm not caught up on what they are doing in their custom shop these days, but give them a call!

Back in the 40s (I think) my father saw Johnny Weissmuller at the NY Athletic Club swim across the pool with a glass of water on his back and not spill a drop!

I don't think many folks can do that now a days!!

I think you have to swim nude on camera to get to carry one, anyhow. Maybe even the water glass trick.

Looks as if ivory is best repro of the genuine rubber version. The woodwork stacking might be an easier way to make up a mold for a fiberglas and resin cast which would be more durable than ivory, and closer to the original in being fake ivory.
