WTB AGM Old Yeller knife - 05/21/19 06:58 PM

I am looking to buy a outdoors/hunting RMK with the above handle material. Nothing over 5” please. Looking for any model 3, 5, 7, 8, 11, 21, 23, 26, 26-25 or 25. I do not have any thing with that handle material. I will pay the fee. Thank you for your time. oldguy

I seen this on eBay. I'm not the seller and I don't know the seller. I thought about buying it myself, but prefer stag handles for my user knives.

I've got a Thorp Bowie in Old Yeller I'll sell but it's hair over 5" if you change your mind on length..

I had a chance to sell this Randall a couple of years ago but couldn't make a decision and the opportunity passed. Ok, I'm ready.
I bought this 7-5 from Gary Clinton. I think it came from his dad"s collection.

Looks like a Leschorn or Gale White knife to me Tom. NICE! How much?
Best, Capt. Chris

I think it's one of those, if you ask how much it is, you can't afford it. Lol.

Cap, can you elaborate on the Leschorn / Dale White comment, please? I need an education.

Thanks

Tom
I don’t own a Leshorn, but I own a Gail White Model 5. Let me look at my knife notes and I will pm you what I know about White’s RMK.
Capt is in Atlanta at Blade.

Thanks Rod.

Was he a Randall dealer?

Re: WTB AGM Old Yeller knife - 06/07/19 09:22 PM

No. If my aging memory is correct he was bought RMK blades that he finished, to his standards ie) “kit” type knife. But I will get back to you tomorrow.

Gail White was a woman.

I know we are off topic. Joe you may be correct, Gail White was a woman. BUT the person, Gail White that built "Kit knives" from RMK was a man.

The first reference is from one of Rhett's newsletters and the second reference was from a ad Capt had for a knife.

Odd, IIRC Capt. Stanaback said Gail White that put RMK's together was a woman, but maybe my memory is failing on this one.

Joe, do you have any thoughts about the knife that started this discussion?

tom,

i would go with what Cap said, he is a bit more up to speed on these later knives. I may lean towards White, but am not certain at all. Would have to see it.

Re: WTB AGM Old Yeller knife - 06/09/19 11:08 PM

Mr. White was, indeed, a man. He included at least "1" black spacer in all of his custom-handled RMK blades as a tribute to Bo. I posted correspondence (in letter form) between Gail White & Grady McCotter a few years back on this forum...about this very subject.
"NOT" a re-handle. An authorized craftsman who was allowed to purchase Randall shop-made and shop-finished "blades only" and then handled them.
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris
PS: Blade-Show-worn...I'll be back up to speed when I get back in my shop on Tuesday!!!CCS
