Looking for a new or lightly used Model 18-5 1/2" with knurled handle and saw teeth. Prefer Tool steel over stainless. Basically what is pictured.

Looking to pay under $500.

Wayne Buxton has a brand new Model 18 in tool steel with teeth (but no knurling on handle) on their website. It is listed at shop price.

I am picking one up at the shop on Wednesday. It has:
* Stainless
* Knurled handle
* Compass
* Waxed sheath
That's the way I order them as it checks all (or most) of the boxes for a "survival" knife. I figured you might need a Divers...or need to use it in a very humid environment. I know it's not your first choice...but it's $555.)) and ready-to roll!
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris

Thanks Capt! BUT....I am on a tight budget for this one so I have to pass. Thanks for thinking of me!

Actually have my M9 wrapped with a Fairway (made in England) Leather tennis racquet grip. Works awesome and builds the handle up a bit as well.

I use exact same as Capt. Chris.....for years. And mainly because won a couple fair size racquetball tourneys using it & similar....a few decades ago. Will not slip in your hand & the more you use it, the better it feels. Just like the knife.

Can anyone post a photo of an 18 with a racquetball grip?

Re: WTB Model 18 5 1/2" with knurled handle - 08/23/16 11:41 AM

Sorry Tom. Mine is on loan to my baby brother....4 days into a 20 day Woods Walk. Living in his pack as his "camp-really-need-a-big-knife" knife. I was supposed to be on this long ago, planned outing with him & two others, BUT, all our plans don't always work out.
SO, these pics. are a sorry substitute. The exact same wrap I put on my racquet approx. 1985, has been well-worn, still a little tacky, little cushion-née and I really like the feel on my #18. Everybody's taste is different.
When he's back I'll post the knife.....unless Capt. Chris gets around to it 1st.

I do not put anything on the handle. It is not exactly easy to get the grip on, but once on it will not slip off. I use a vice to hold the knife while applying grip. Eric

Dish soap and water will help it slide on easily then dry for a secure fit.

Harley Davidson handlebars are 1" diameter while Japanese and European are 7/8". Model 18 has a 1" diameter handle. Just so you know what's what.

I received the knife today from Buxton knives. It's beautiful! My wife even said it was too pretty to use!

Once I decide on what material to put on the handle, I'll post a pix in the Knife of the Week Thread.
