Ruana pics - 01/02/10 04:24 PM

Here's a couple of Ruana pics; one is the little 10-B custom with a brass parry strip, wrist thong hole, and flap sheath. The other is a recent Ruana that I picked up at a gun show really cheap.

No, the Finn is a Model 27 AC and is a longer, thinner blade. That one is a 28 CD and a pure skinner.

Could not tell for sure. Plus my memory isn't what it used to be. And it wasn't that great to start.

Hi Guys
Here is my first Ruana.
It is special and the only one in this configuration so far.
A 28 D blade with 20 B handle with ironwood inserts instead of Elk.

Another Ruana just in, a non standard 21 A 6 inch instead of 5 inch with my favorite wood ironwood. Great knife but sheath is backwards smile

Nice setup, Peter...but it looks like rosewood. You usually are a red/orange/black ironwood kinda guy...aren't you?

Thanks Capt Chris and Pap
The Ruana ironwood is pretty plain compared to some of the Randall ironwood and custom wood, but they don't use wood very often, it makes it unique.

I'll have some Ruana photos to post in a day or two. I visited Ruana Knives in Bonner, Montana last Thursday afternoon, and shook hands with Mike and Mark Hangas, and their father, Victor. The highlight of the visit was being able to hand-pick the Stag handle for my CBCK (Custom Brass Camp Knife) that I ordered earlier this year, and which will be ready later this year.

Super nice feature article on Ruana Knives and Vic Hangas in the September Knife World. A "must" for anyone that owns or collects Ruana's.
