Just made this one, the Seabirch.

inspired on the USN Seabee knife of WW2.
5 " blade of Niolox at Rc 58-59
Guard and pommel of hammered and blued mild steel
Handle material is Birchbark, with some red/black spacers
Brown leather sheath wit Kydex inlays front and back. Double stitched.

Is the construction like stacked leather washers?

Very attractive look.

Yes, the construction is the same as with a leather handle. Only difference is that you don't have to glue it. You just stack them up, screw the bolster on real tight, pop the knife in an oven at about 180 degrees F, and it glues itself with the resin that's present in the bark.

Then you can shape the handle just like on any other knife. And it feels better in hand than leather in my opinion.
