Ray Beers Knife - 08/28/16 12:47 PM

Anyone have contact information for a knife maker by the name of Ray Beers? I recently bought a knife made by him and scrimshawed by Rick Bowles. I'd like to contact Mr. Beers and see what he can tell me about the knife.
Thanks.

Very old phone number at article end...current area code your guess. He is retired, if still living.

Thanks for the tip, Lofty. I think that one is out of date. I ran across another reference that indicated Mr. Beers had moved to Florida.

Here is a photo of the knife and sheath. I bought it for the yellow micarta and scrimshaw.

Pretty knife. Kind of unique that both artists involved have the same initials.

The initials will surely cause problems 100yrs from now. Gorgeous set, sheath and knife, and highly unusual pinned sheath design. There is a hidden hip flask in there, right? (could not resist)

Sorry number was dud, best I could do on short notice. But I HAVE gotten hits on 25yr old numbers before, so figured it was worth a stab on a knifemaker, and posted it with no poking around.

Try this....from Knives 2016

And also another Beers scrimshaw...cannot copy photo, so a link...

I spoke with Rick Bowles about this knife and sheath. Rick says he hit it off well with Mr. Beers and they were both tickled that they signed their work in the same way. The knife and sheath date from the 1980s.

Lofty - Thanks very much for the contact information!

Glad to oblige, and it was fun refreshing memory on his work, it was quite well known, especially his very functional Palm Hunter design.
