I just bought this Dozier off the internet. It is not my picture.

This the second Dozier I own. I think he makes excellent knives.

Hey Rod,
..that's a good one, and look's like the old Westinghouse micarta on the handle.

Re: Bob Dozier Knive's.. - 08/03/13 09:40 PM

Rex

I think you are correct about the Micarta. The seller calls it Westinghouse Antique Ivory Micarta. It is the K-7 Slim Outdoorsman model. The reason I purchased this knife is because of the handle material.

I have the exact knife, bought in 2000, except the handle material is called Black Rucarta. If I recall Micarta is a trade name of Westinghouse material, so perhaps Rucarta is a derivative of Micarta. Looking on the internet, AG Russell, uses Rucarta and that is where I bought the original Dozier from. Perhaps Bob was building them for AG to sell then!!

Rex and Rod
nice knives guys
I have two Dozier knives, on a Slim Outdoorsman, and the other I don't recall the name of and I don't see a similar one on his website.
Slim Outdoorsman has black Rucarta(Micarta) and unfortunately got rained on, and didn't get it out of the sheath on time and it has a few pits.
Other one is ironwood.

Peter

Glad to see you have one Dozier with Ironwood. I could not for a moment imagine you having a knife from a maker without have at least one ironwood handle.
Looking at Dozier's website it states he has a 30+ month wait on orders.

Very nice knives, Peter. I especially like the one with the IW - because of the blade shape and the handle wink

All of these Dozier knives look outstanding. I really like the size, handle-to-blade line and the way it feels in my hand. And no, I don't own one but have held one a good buddy owns. They look like they'd like to hang out on your hip when out beating around on the weekends. Really nice, guys.
Kinda remind me a little of this Whiskey Pete I just happen to have in my hand.

I haven't been on the forum much, but I have several of Bobs knives an even use some of them. He makes a great knife for trout and birds also have two Gentleman's knives an Elk hunter a folding knife with Ivory two mirrow polished knives one in stag and one in Ivory and a copy of a Randall 1943 fighter. I may have more but that is all that memory serves me right now. I also spent a week at his shop and two Christmas' with him at Rhett and Janie's. He is a fine person.

Fit and finish on a Dozier is always great....but the workmanship on that sheath, especially the stitching is best I've saw..lately.

Re: Bob Dozier Knive's.. - 09/25/14 01:28 PM

Appreciate the pics. I had been looking at his knives for a while now but had not yet bought one. Yesterday I ordered an "Arkansas Toothpick" with a shoulder sheath. Definitely not one of his high end items but looks like it should be a good carry knife. Picked the shoulder sheath just because it looked cool. :-)

I really like D-2 steel. I have a Bud Tracy "Backpacker" in D-2 that skinned a whole bear without any sharpening at all, including cutting off the head and paws. Probably my favorite "user" steel in a knife.

The main thing is the correct heat treatment smile
I have seen and had many knives with hideous heat treatment.
Quickly become dull, or crumble at the slightest loads.
Master Dozier is one of in world's best hardening D2 smile

I saw him at a fair price and decided that we should
not miss the moment smile I'm waiting for him by mail.
Seller photos are really excellent, I squeezed them a bit
to accommodate several views in one picture. I like this lighting.
Now I'm looking at him and I think he reminds me a lot?

In reality, this color is even more saturated. I think that
we should look for such a G10 unit and put it on Randall
