Gransfors Bruk or Wetterlings?

Gransfors Bruk or Wetterlings? - 07/01/17 10:53 PM

I have both. Both are above average, but I do like one over the other in certain situations. Wetterlings has a new Bushman axe based upon Les Stroud's design. I have ordered one. I use an axe/hatchet to butcher through the rib cage and neck of big game. Some use a saw, but I am a hatchet man. Anyone use either of these brands of Swedish axes?

Bruk's for me have 2-4 models. Holds a edge well. packs better than a bow saw.

I have three Bruk's.
The splitting hatchet, the long handles splitting axe and the small forest axe.
All have great edges.

I have a Wetterlings Pack hatchet in my day ack, a Bruks Outdoor Axe with collar, and A Bruks Small Forest axe in my Bronco. I will probably put the Bushman in my pickup. I did notice on my recent purchase of 2 Bruks Small Forest axes for my twin grandson's birthday, that Bruks no longer uses a metal wedge, just wood. Also, I bought these 2 Bruks from AG Russell as they were about $20 less for each one compared to other sites.

I find that the metal wedges are to malleable to be used many times. I also don't know enough to say why one is better than the other.

I found out yesterday that Wetterlings was bought out by Bruks.
