Snake medicine….. - 07/11/22 07:37 PM

I recently had to dispatch a Prairie Rattler at the front gate to “Casa de Mick”:

Because we have our 3 year old grandson at our place a lot, my lovely bride allowed me to pick up a new pistola to deal with any future interlopers:

It’s a Taurus Judge that can shoot .45 Colt and .410 shotshells. Now I just need to find some .410 ammo!

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of Wayne, I am now kitted up with .410 shells and .45 colt shotshells for my Judge!

Now I can patrol my perimeter with proper load out for rattlers!

Thanks again Wayne:)

Yep.

Wayne helped me out with some .410 ammo last Fall. He saved me!

I’ve had 3 boxes ordered from Opics Planet since 4-30-21. They project shipping on 9-30-23.

I’m not sure what the deal is with .410 ammo, but it seems that none of the stores can get any and none of the internet suppliers have any.

Hopefully some time in the near future this ammo shortage stuff will come to an end.

I have a friend that works in a large gun store near Dayton,OH and he says as soon as the get 410 #6 shot in...............it is gone in short order.

We have not been able to get any .410 ammo ANYWHERE around here since the Spring of 2020.

Last Summer, we were on Vacation somewhere in New England and passed by a big Remington factory. The parking lot was full so I assumed they were back to production. It has been a year so I reckon not.

Hi, here's a list of "my usual suspects" of ammo on line. There is .410 ammo available. Prices are not my fault, regards, Mike

Coach,
Were you in Iilion,NY? The plant is right off the NY Throughway.
They never made ammo there, just the rifles and shotguns and back in the day,the custom shop.

The Bridgeport,CT plant has long been closed.

Coach,
Remington pretty much moved everything to ,I think,NC. They had some start up problems but now I think they are back to full, better production.

The newer 870s are a far cry from the earlier models,a number of cost saving (somewhat) modifications were made. I guess they are fairly good but not like the older ones.

I have a 7400 in 30.06 that has NEVER misfired.

I’m fixing to put a pistol grip stock and a thermal scope on it and make it my night hog gun

DRT makes some terminal shock 30.06 in 175grains. Ought to be good

Mike,

Thanks for the links!

I see that both WikiArms Ammo Engine and AmmoSeek have sellers listed that have 2-1/2” .410 ammo inn stock!

Coach,
That sounds like that would be nice. My preference is for the standard stock but that is me. The 7400 is it rifle length or carbine??

I guess that any 150+ grain weight bullet in the 30-06 would be pretty good for the hogs.
