Gun Show - 03/18/22 11:03 PM

Tomorrow. New in the box S&W 629 Classic. It's been a while since I sold a gun (one exception) and wondering what would be a decent asking price.

Hi, there's one on GunAuction 4" ( not the Classic) that's at $820 with 8 days to go. The auction started at 1 cent. S&W says $1050, retail with the stupid lock. Grandma said you can always go down in price but not up. Buds guns on line says not in stock. Good Luck, regards, Mike

Thanks Mike. This one is a 629-3 from about 1990 with no lock.

Tom,
I hope that you don't have to sell that piece.

It looks like one of those guns that after you sold it,you wished you hadn't.

There is a local trading site here in the Atlanta/Georgia area where we buy and sell guns and such....from what I see, up here that piece would probably fetch between $1,000 and $1,200....my guess

Tom,
Years ago,I told my wife that I intend to take my "stuffs" with me when I go.

She replied......."What size Pyramid?"

Tom
My wife told me the same thing, “you can’t take it with you.”
Now on a more serious but true story about “ taking it with you.” A woman I worked with in Ireland, was working in Lviv, Ukraine. She got out of the Ukraine yesterday with 1 suitcase on a bus to Poland. That is all, everything else she left behind.
A pretty sobering story, for us, realizing how fortunate we are.

nobody should take freedom for granted....nor should they ever relax the means to protect that very freedom!!!
not one damn inch!!!
doubters need simply look to the north, and see what Canada just did

Rocky,
You are certainly right. A supposedly free Canada is not free in any way what so ever.

I noticed basic freedoms there start to erode around the late 70s.

I think it was Ben Franklin that once said " Those that give up freedoms for security enjoy neither.

I have two of those, Tom. One is the 6&1/2” ported and the other is 4”, I think. Both bought new in the ‘90’s and both stamped “629 Classic”. I put a small red dot on the ported and haven’t missed a whitetail season since then carrying it into the mountains. Longest shot 130 yards with 9 points. Most all the other shots in the 40–60 yard range. ALL one shot, down hard, through and through.
I do look at these at the shows and in the shops. I would not put it out for sale for a penny less than $1200.00. And then, if you really want to sell you could drop it to $1150.00 AND have two people happy with the deal. After that, I’ve tried to do as my dad said, “walk away and do not look back, inside or out.” It’s been hardest for me personally with Randalls, guns and horses.
