Not to rain on your parade..."BUT"...(It's a good day already)...the "proper" dimensions for a a slotted block are:
1" x 1 13/32" x 4 1/2".
The depth of the "slot" is 7/8" and the slot should be channeled to an exact width of 1/4".

I mis-typed in the post.

The dimensions are 1-inch thick x 1-13/32 tall x 4-1/2 long.

The slot is 7/8 deep x 1/4 wide.
