Mark:
The knife is sheathed in a tight-stitched, Maurice Johnson, roughback sheath..."but"..what makes it "waxed"? Is there a "W" stamped on the back? Nice knife and @ 3 bills someone is getting a collectible user at the same price as a new one!
Best, Capt. Chris
PS: Can anyone tell me what else is "different" on this bad boy from a new one?...CCS

David, email received... stand by for pics.

Hi Chris, the sheath is not marked with a W, but it does have the same waxy texture as the sheath on the 16 I had back in the early 80s (my 16 sheath wasnít marked with a W either).

I have had plenty of waxed sheaths that weren't marked. Have a model 18 in one now that is unmarked. In fact, I would say there are more vintage (60's-70's) pieces in unmarked waxed sheaths than marked.

I have too Joe but the white thread doesn't appear waxed either...Just sayin'
Nice knife for sure and you guys got the other "2" but DW should be disqualified.

The 10-7 should still be available.
I decided to stick with a 10-5 I have for the boat.
It also feels like a waxed sheath, but no W on it.
It is newer production from about 3 years ago.

Here's a waxed #1 sheath with white thread that I got in the 60's or 70's time period. (I also got a waxed #15; it is not marked.)
