Randall "Chef Knife"...New for 2011 !! - 11/30/10 06:26 PM

Dear fellow RKS members,
It is with the utmost satisfaction and pride that I introduce to you Randall Made Knives' latest new offering for 2011: The Chef's Knife!! I was honored to be asked by the Randall shop, and by Rhett, to do so. To say that this knife is the "buzz" is an understatement!
Here are the specifications:

* 6" blade hand-forged from stainless steel stock (1/4" thick)
* Thumb notches
* 4 3/4" handle length
* Heavy brass reduced hilt
* All red spacers
* Black micarta handle with a "comfortable" grip!
* Wrist thong
* Weight: 12.3 ounces
* Supplied with a leather blade cover
* Designed for kitchen use...BUT "NOT" FOR THE DISHWASHER!!

OK: That's the shop's description..."PLUS"...a warning about automatic dishwashers...DON"T!! I visited the Randall shop yesterday and everybody with a last name of "Randall" advised me to emphasize "strongly" that this fine culinary knife be hand-washed, as should all of your fine knives. Everyone got it?...Ya' sure?...Good! Thank you.
I had to drop by Sullivan's with some portable photo gear to snap a few shots of this terrific knife. Greg, Danny & Chris were busy engineering new leather for 3 new offerings from the shop when I arrived. (More on the "others" later on) I was able to photgraph the "prototype" cover for the "Chef's Knife". I should mention that nothing is finalized yet and this design "could" change...but you folks can get an idea from the photos of what this wonderful new package will look like.
There will be absolutely "NO OPTIONS" offered for the Chef's Knife...What you see is what you get. I can tell you that is a hefty kitchen-crafted tool and feels excellent in the hand! The initial price offering will be $430.00
Now: Understanding that I was working with portable gear (and with Greg's 7 year old Grandaughter as my apprentice: Yes: I paid her!) I hope ya'll enjoy Randall's latest! I know I do!!
Best, Capt. Chris Stanaback

Ooh Ooh, I want one, is etching a possibility?

How about ironwood, just joking.

I'm sure they can be etched. No optional handles or shapes, spacers, butt caps or plates, etc., etc., etc...

Chef's Knife.....nuts......

For us "culinarilly challenged" that's just a Big Arse Cattleman.....I like it!

I'm sure the slab-sided option will be just fine on my order.

Very cool! I would get it with a nickel silver hilt if they offered it but It looks great with brass too. I also think a compass would look great in the butt, not much use but hey, I can dream!

Here's my strategy ...
I tell my Dear Wife (Saint Barbara) that if I have one of these babies,
I'll spend more time in the kitchen! smile

Hey Cap'n. That is a good looking kitchen knife. Do you think that the Shop might do a little magic like they did on the 28 and get some of these into our hands soon? I would like to have one while I am still into cooking. Four or five years and I might be out of the mood!

Sidney...and all other RKS members:
In speaking with Valerie yesterday she indicated that 2011 orders mean just that! If you have orders (which I've been know to have a "couple" of Randalls comin' each year) scheduled for 2011 these knives can be ordered right away! If you want to reduce the 5 year wait, contact your Randall Knives "Authorized" dealer you normally do business with and get one or 2 of these great new offerings "in the mix"!!
..............and there's still "more to come"!!
Best, Capt. Chris
